Injecting more tension, thrills & suspense into the more entertaining survival elements, Renny Harlin slightly slides #TheStrangersChapter1 not as bleak as Bertino's 2008 original homage to vintage redneck-hillbilly horror - at least by rebooting this to 3 movie installments. While Madeleine Petsch made a convincing lead and some smart adjustments to the Airbnb era, too, the real proof - however, lies in the upcoming Chapter 2. Despite of #PreyAtNight's bad reception, I hope Harlin won't take this reboot to a Bertino's bleak & nihilistic scope.
